This is the one where it all began... Rachel leaves Barry at the altar, meets the gang, and moves in with Monica. Ross is reeling from his divorce from Carol who has become a lesbian.

Ross's lesbian ex-wife tells him at work that she is pregnant with his child and that her and Susan are planning to bring up the child. Rachel finds out that Barry and her maid of honour, Mindy, went on her honeymoon.

Everyone likes Monica's new boyfriend way more than she does. Phoebe discovers a human thumb floating in a can of soda & gets seven thousand dollars compensation, which she offers to Chandler to quit smoking.

Ross mourns the anniversary of losing his virginity to Carol. Rachel gets her first pay cheque but is angry most of her money went to FICA. The girls spy on the sexy politician across the street, George Stephanopoulos.

Ross and Rachel wash their dirty laundry in public. Joey wants to go out with a woman who has a boyfriend, so he tricks Monica into a double date. Chandler recruits Phoebe to break up with Janice for him.

Joey gets cast as Al Pacino's "butt-double" but gets fired for overacting. Chandler starts a polyamorous relationship with an Italian woman but eventually learns that it's not all it's cracked up to be.

During a blackout, Rachel falls for the attractive Italian owner of a lost kitten just as Ross wants to profess his love. Chandler is trapped in an ATM vestibule with Jill Goodacre and desperately tries to impress her.

Ross and Monica go to the bedside of their dead grandmother, who momentarily returns to life. Chandler discovers all the gang thought he was gay when they first met him.

Monica plans a lovely, quiet Thanksgiving feast for the gang but the food burns when Chandler distracts the friends with a break-away balloon. Joey models for an embarrassing poster & Ross sings to his unborn child.

All the friends make a pact not to bring dates to the New Years party but they all do, except Ross who arrives with his new companion, a monkey named Marcel.

Chandler's romance novelist mum comes to visit and Joey catches her and Ross kissing. Monica and Phoebe compete for the attention of "coma guy", who gets hit by an ambulance after Monica woo-woo's at him on the street.

Everyone knows the sex of Ross' baby except for Ross, who doesn't want to find out until it's born. Monica makes a dozen lasagne for her aunt, only to discover that her aunt doesn't eat meat.

Chandler accidentally sees Rachel wandering around topless after her shower & a chain reaction of nudity ensues. Joey finds himself playing parent when he has to decide whether to hide his father's affair from his mum.

Ross' first date in nine years is on Valentine's Day. Joey sets Chandler up on a blind date with Janice. Phoebe, Monica & Rachel decide to spend the holiday burning mementos of past boyfriends & end up causing a fire.

Monica cooks a gourmet meal for a restaurateur looking for a new chef. Chandler gets promoted, quits & then takes his job back. Ross has a date with a colleague and gives new meaning to the term "spanking the monkey".

Joey falls for Phoebe's twin sister, Ursula. Chandler finds himself between a rock and a hard place when he's told to fire an employee he's attracted to. Ross has doubts about parenthood when he attends Lamaze classes.

Ursula dumps Joey but doesn't plan to tell him, so Phoebe disguises herself as her twin to break the news. Rachel cajoles Monica into trading identities so she can use Monica's health insurance for a sprained ankle.

The gang searches frantically for Marcel, who slipped out of the apartment while Rachel was baby-sitting him. Rachel, who doesn't know that Marcel is an illegal pet, ends up calling Animal Safety.

Rachel and Barry start dating again which is slightly awkward because he's now engaged to Mindy. Chandler goes nuts when a woman he likes won't return his calls. The friends discover someone is spying on them.

When Monica's credit card is stolen she ends up making friends with the thief. Ross discovers Marcel has reached sexual maturity and needs to be with his own kind, so he tries to get him into the "Harvard" of all zoos.

After losing his virginity to her, Monica's boyfriend reveals he's a high school senior. Rachel has erotic dreams about Joey & Chandler. Whilst temping, Phoebe discovers no one at Chandler's office likes him anymore.

Carol goes into labour and Ross and Susan can't stop bickering over who gets to help more. Rachel flirts with an OB/GYN who has a love-hate relationship with women's private parts and Joey ends up assisting a birth.

During Rachel's birthday party, and while Ross is in China, Chandler lets it slip that Ross is in love with her. Joey's girlfriend wants to sleep with him but his participation in a fertility study is preventing this.
