Ross and Charlie decide that they can't go forward with a relationship before Ross talks to Joey, while Joey and Rachel decide that they can't go forward with a relationship before talking to Ross.

Ross tries to convince everyone that he's okay with Joey and Rachel being together while Phoebe gets an unusual offer from her half-brother. Chandler put his foot in it when he tells an unsuspecting child he's adopted.

Ross gets a spray-on tan that does not go well. Joey and Rachel's first date goes well until they return home and find everything awkward. Monica and Phoebe try to avoid Amanda, their annoying friend from London.

It's baby Emma's first birthday but a mishap at the bakery means the cake is shaped like an erotic object. Rachel won't let the party start until Emma wakes from her nap but everybody has other places to be.

Rachel's sister Amy babysits Emma to prove she's responsible but with disastrous results. Monica and Chandler solicit Joey to write a letter to the adoption agency on their behalf and Phoebe and Mike get engaged.

Ross applies for a palaeontology grant and finds out Charlie's ex-boyfriend reviews the applications, who in turn sabotages Ross's application. Chandler upsets Joey's when he's caught lying over Joey's audition tape.

Phoebe and Mike struggle over their decision to donate their wedding fund to charity, Ross discovers Rachel's irrational fear of swings and Monica and Chandler are finally approved for adoption.

Everyone begs Monica and Chandler to host Thanksgiving once again but find themselves locked out when they turn up an hour late for dinner. All is forgiven when the hosts hear they've been selected by a mum-to-be.

Monica and Chandler travel to Ohio to meet the potential mother of their child but they're put in an uncomfortable situation when the mum-to-be thinks they're a reverend and a doctor.

Phoebe and Rachel catch Chandler getting into a car with a blonde woman and think he's having an affair. It turns out the woman was Monica and Chandler's realtor and that the two are buying a house in Westchester.

Phoebe's bachelorette party features a rather unexpected surprise when a stripper shows up. Joey appears on the show Pyramid and Chandler and Ross flash back to reflect on a pact they made when they were in college.

On the day of the wedding New York is hit with the worst snowstorm it's seen in 20 years, resulting in the ceremony taking place in the street outside of Central Perk.

Phoebe tries to teach Joey to speak French for an audition. Surrogate mum Erica is visiting town and has some disturbing news whilst Ross and Rachel head out to Long Island after her dad has a heart attack.

Monica and Chandler visit their house which is in escrow. Phoebe learns she can change her name to whatever she wants and Ross gets tenure at his job whilst Rachel is offered a job in Paris.

Joey's agent dies but the gang don't want to tell him since his life has been changing so much lately. Janice is bidding on the house next door to Chandler and Monica and Ross is trying to get Rachel her old job back.

The gang throw Rachel a going away party and she says goodbye to each of her friends individually. Meanwhile, Erica is in town until the baby arrives and ends up going into labour at the party.

Ross has a hard time dealing with Rachel's decision to move to Paris whilst Phoebe and Joey pack Monica and Chandler's belongings as the couple accompany Erica, who has gone into labour, to the hospital.

Ross and Phoebe race to the airport to tell Rachel of his feelings. Erica gives birth to twins Jack and Erica and the friends turn in their apartment keys and go out together for one last coffee at Central Perk.
