When the ninja receive an invitation to partake in the Tournament of Elements and a clue that Zane might be alive, they accept and travel to a lost island owned by notorious crime lord Master Chen in order to save their friend.

The ninja discover that the tournament isn't about glory, but about Chen stealing everyone's elemental powers.

To drive the Ninja apart, Chen and Clouse put Jay and Cole to face eachother.

In the last round of Phase One, the elemental masters compete in the Thunderblade, where Lloyd must compete against the master of form.

With only 8 people left in the tournament, the ninja discover a spy among the competitors.

Chen entices the contestants to hunt down Nya while Lloyd discover's Chen's plan to steal everyone's power so that he can complete a spell and turn his worshipers into Anacondrai, bringing the return of the Serpentine War.

Chen only needs Lloyd's powers to complete the spell and tries to enlist the Fire Ninja by promising to share secrets about his parents. All the while, Lloyd tries to rescue the Ninja, pitting him in a showdown with Chen.

While the Ninja control the island, Chen figures out Skylor can complete the Spell. Meanwhile, the Ninja must figure out their Dragon Powers.

With Chen's spell complete, he needs only one ingredient to complete the transformation: the sweat of a true Anacondrai.

With the elemental alliance scattered across Ninjago and Chen having discovered how to make the spell permanent, the balance is at risk as Garmadon makes his last stand against evil at the corridor of elders.
