Shaquille O'Neal develops into an indomitable high school and college player, who is drafted number one overall in 1992 by the Orlando Magic. Despite the team's success and Shaq's burgeoning superstardom, it soon becomes clear his time in Orlando is coming to an end.

After signing a record-setting contract with the Los Angeles Lakers, Shaq's individual talents are not enough to help the franchise reclaim its past glory. But in 1999, the arrival of legendary coach Phil Jackson elevates the team and his star centre to new heights.
