In Ashford, North Queensland, residents of the town gather at the local high school to unearth a time capsule, which was interred by students from the 'class of 94'. Among the items of nostalgia is a letter from Isabel Baker who was murdered a week before it was buried.
After the discovery of Isabel's hair those involved with the time capsule project in 1994 are at the forefront of Cormack's inquiry. He makes a huge discovery when the blue car seen following Isabel on the night of the murder shows up on the time capsule documentary.
Rumours and gossip are spreading around Ashford and suspicion is cast over Joe. Cormack tracks down the owner of the blue car, Ezekiel, who has since died. He discovers that Ezekiel's cousins went missing in Ashford around the time of Isabel's murder.
Cormack investigates the link between Ezekiel's missing cousins and Isabel's murder. He probes Joe about his connection to Ezekiel, but Joe refuses to cooperate. Billy Hopkins claims to have evidence implicating Steve Walcott.
Billy Hopkins is involved in a motorbike crash hours before he was due to meet with Cormack. Turner concludes it was an accident, but Cormack suspects foul play. He is starting to think that Billy's fate, the missing workers and Isabel's murder could all be connected.
Cormack tries to track down and question Anton, but he's disappeared. Kalana is also missing. Fearing the worst, Cormack and Hazel race into the cane fields to find Kalana and confront Anton. When they get there, they discover there is one final twist to this tale...
